Boxers get set for Youth Games TWO PENARTH boxers will jet out to Thailand next week, as they prepare to represent Wales at the Youth Commonwealth Games. Keiron Harding, 18, and Joe Morgan, 17, are off to a pre tournament training camp as they continue to build up to the games, which take place in the Indian city of Pune from October 13 to 19. Keiron has been made captain of the Welsh boxing team and coach Neil Munn has high hopes for the Penarth ABC duo. "I'm so proud of them," he said. "It's practically unheard of to have two fighters from the same club in the Welsh squad. "There's only eight boxers in total, so Penarth fighters make up a quarter of the Welsh team. "Keiron and Joe are looking really sharp in training and I they've got a great chance of bringing home medals." In total, 71 countries will compete at the games - which will should see many athletes of the future taking part. Chris Jenkins, Commonwealth Games Council for Wales director, said: "The Youth Commonwealth Games are very important for young athletes as it gives them invaluable experience of competing on an international stage. "Many of the athletes taking part in the Youth Games will be strong candidates for Delhi 2010 and beyond for London in 2012."
